🅔 A transliteration of Biblical Hebrew ʿarḇôṯ, i.e. a plural construct form of ʿărāḇā ‘steppe, desert, plain’. Cf. Αραβα ‘Arabah, i.e. Jordan valley between Sea of Galilee and Dead Sea’  (LXX: Deut. 1.7, etc.).
