ἀραχού <Egyptian; Roman period>

👉 ἀραχού – an Egyptian gloss with the meaning of ἄνηθον τὸ ἐσθιόμενον ‘dill (Anethum graveolens L.)’ (Dsc. 3.58 RV).

Dsc. 3.58 RV: ἄνηθον τὸ ἐσθιόμενον· (...) Αἰγύπτιοι ἀραχού (...). – “Anēthon to esthiomenon (dill): (...) the Egyptians (call it) arachu (...)”.

🅔 An Egyptian word without etymology. According to an unlikely interpretation, ἀραχού is a genitive singular of the Greek ἄραχος ‘wild vetch (Vicia sibthorpii Boiss.)’.
