👉ἀγονουχί – an Egyptian gloss with the meaning of σέρις ἀγρία ‘wild endive (Cichorium endivia subsp. divaricatum (Schousb.) P.D.Sell)’ (Dsc. 2.132 RV).
⚠ Dsc. 2.132 RV: σέρις ἀγρία· (...) Αἰγύπτιοι ἀγονουχί (...). – “Seris agria (wild endive): (...) the Egyptians (call it) agonuchi (...)”.
🅔 An Egyptian gloss that is probably a distorted foreign word corresponding to the Coptic ⲁⲛⲛⲟϣⲉⲣ (B) m. ‘wild endive’. On the basis of ἄγον ‘endive’, one would presume that -ουχί in ἀγονουχί stands for a word (an adjective?) differentiating wild endive from the cultivated kind, but the Egyptian/Coptic material does not supply any confirmation for this.
