ἀνωνίμ <Egyptian; Roman period>

👉 ἀνωνίμ – an Egyptian gloss with the meaning of ὀρεοσέλινον ‘mountain parsley (Athamanta macedonica L.)’ (Dsc. 3.65 RV).

Dsc. 3.65 RV: ὀρεοσέλινον· (...) Αἰγύπτιοι ἀνωνίμ (...). – “Oreoselinon (mountain parsley): (...) the Egyptians (call it) anōnim (...)”.

🅔 An Egyptian word without etymology. Cf. an old hypothesis: from the Egyptian jnhmn ‘pomegranate, pomegranate tree (Punica granatum L.)’.
