ἀπεριούμ <Egyptian; Roman period>
👉 ἀπεριούμ (v.l. ἀπεμούμ) – an Egyptian gloss with the meaning of μανδραγόρα ἄρρεν ‘mandrake (Mandragora officinarum L. or another species of Mandragora L.)’ (Dsc. 4.75 RV).
⚠ Dsc. 4.75 RV: μανδραγόρα ἄρρεν· (...) Αἰγύπτιοι ἀπεριούμ (...). – “Mandragora arren (mandrake): (...) the Egyptians (call it) aperium (...)”.
🅔 An Egyptian word without a certain etymology; perhaps a distorted form of the Egyptian rrm.t prob. ‘mandrake’.
